Future and Common Support Services (FCSS)

FCSS was formed in April 2022 as part of the Land Equipment Operating Centre re-structuring.

The aims of FCSS is to work collaboratively with Army HQ and Industry to deliver the technical and support concepts to provide the Army with the sustainable support and capability upgrades that they need now and in the future.

The most significant programme within the FCSS portfolio is the Land Integrated Operating Services programme (Programme LIOS). Programme LIOS is seen as the ‘keystone’ programme of the Land Industrial Strategy (LIS) and will design the future support model for Land equipment and its industrial base; planning and controlling the implementation of that support model, and engaging with DE&S, Army and Industry to embed the changes required to realise the benefits anticipated in the LIS.

Additionally, FCSS includes Technology Demonstrator 6 (TD6), who are a small team developing Hybrid Electric Drive (HED) options for the upgrade of in-service platforms or inclusion on the next generation fleet. TD6 seek to use HED to improve the performance of Land equipment, provide improved on and off-vehicle power sources on the battlefield, and assist in meeting Land targets for reducing carbon emissions.
