DVD 2008 is one of the most important events in the defence equipment calendar. It is a two-day event, organised by the MoD, for vehicle, battlefield infrastructure and related support services industries with an interest in the defence sector. It is aimed primarily at manufacturers, purchasers, specifiers and senior users, and provides a single point of contact and interaction for the multitude of large and small stakeholders involved in these sectors.
Last year’s event attracted more than 4,000 visitors, with over 200 companies displaying equipment and systems. This year we anticipate an even better attendance with additional IPTs having chosen DVD as a major stakeholder event. Taking part in DVD 2008 will be the organiser, Specialist and Utility Vehicles IPT, supported by General Support Vehicles IPT and Battlefield Infrastructure & Engineer Group and they will be joined this year by Deployable Support & Test Equipment IPT, Defence Clothing IPT, Medical & General Supplies IPT, Defence Food Services IPT and the Defence Fuels Group.
As before, DVD 2008 will cover a vast range of equipment and service support, from vehicles and systems to construction plant and camouflage, including protected mobility and support vehicles. This year there will also be new displays of test and measurement equipment, clothing, food, catering equipment, medical and general supplies and fuels and lubricants. |

New cargo trucks head for Canada’s training fields
More than 100 of the latest cargo trucks to be used by British military forces around the world have set sail for the Army’s training centre in Canada. The trucks are part of the £1.3B replacement Support Vehicle programme awarded to MAN trucks in 2005 which will see the supply of some 7,300 cargo and recovery vehicles. The procurement programme is being managed by the General Support Vehicles Integrated Project Team (GSV IPT) which is a through life IPT, responsible for the procurement and in-service management of heavy logistics vehicles with a payload of four tonnes and above. GSV IPT is one of eight IPTs and Groups who are participating in DVD at Millbrook this year.
