DC IPT is responsible for the development, procurement, supply management and support functions required to provide clothing and associated items for the Armed Forces. A major role of DC IPT is to deliver clothing capability for all ongoing operations, including Iraq and Afghanistan. The IPT also provides for MoD civilian dependencies such as the MoD Police, Military Guard Service and the MoD Fire Service, and has in excess of 450,000 customers within MoD.
DC IPT is constantly working to provide modern specialist clothing for its customers, and in response to the demanding conditions for those serving on the front-line. The latest kit to be put in to service includes:
- Under Body Armour Combat Shirt (UBACS) – designed to be worn under protective body armour and made of special fabric that absorbs sweat
- New tactical assault vest – worn over the Osprey body armour
- New soft leather gloves and special goggles that eliminate fogging
The DC IPT Leader is Colonel Silas Suchanek.
